Palanivel Ready To Face Challenges At New Ministry

KUALA LUMPUR, May 15 (Bernama) -- MIC president Datuk Seri G. Palanivel is ready to face any challenge on various environmental issues, following his appointment as natural resources and environment minister."It is a good and challenging ministry and I hope to play a role in protecting and nurturing our environment," he said in a text message to Bernama.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced his new Cabinet line-up in Putrajaya today, in the wake of Barisan Nasional's victory in the just-concluded 13th General Election.

Elaborating, Palanivel said it was an interesting ministry to helm due its wide-ranging areas of interest.

"It is also closely related to my constituency (Cameron Highlands)," he said, alluding to the nature hotspot in the state of Pahang.

Thanking Najib for the appointment, Palanivel pledged to give his best to look into all related issues.

He also vowed to enhance sustainable management of the country's natural resources.
