YBhg Tan Sri Razali bin Ismail, Chairman of SUHAKAM, applaud the effort taken by MIC. He said that human rights is no longer an isolated issue; we are global citizens where human rights are concerned.

Datuk Seri Dr Subramaniam said that of late, our rating in the Human Rights Watch has improved tremendously , reaching Second Tier in terms of Malaysia’s advancement in human rights and justice. This is a clear recognition of Malaysia’s efforts and measures taken to improve human rights at home.

However we still have some issues that need to be addressed , which concerns our Indian community. it is about custodial deaths. As it’s occurrence has been rising, some parties had made it a political issue. rational. He asserted that, no one should be allowed to be treated unjustly or in an inhumane manner as justice must be served fairly to everyone.

Similarly, documentation issues of the Indian community had been addressed through the recent MyDaftar programme. MIC reached out to solve this issue nationwide. During this service, we found few children were without no proper registration and documentation. This has affected some of these children being denied of education. It Very sad as education is the best way to get out of the vicious circle of poverty.

All the MIC leaders are custodians to our community’s rights. Championing human rights should be a way of life. This dialogue was attended by all the CWC members, MiC Division Chairmen and MIC members .
