MIC Deputy President Criticises PKR For Misleading Indians
MIC deputy president and BN candidate for Hulu Selangor Datuk G. Palanivel today lashed out at Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and its defacto leader Datuk Seri Anwar
Ibrahim for trying to mislead Indian voters at this general election. The Women,
Family and Community Development deputy minister also expressed his disgust over
the opposition party's use of "young Indian boys" to further their campaign at the
polls.
"PKR is a party without character...they make use of young Indian boys to carry
PKR flags and paste posters. These boys are not even voters," he told Bernama.
He said the opposition party, which claims to be multi-racial, had "simply" nominated
Chinese and Indian candidates and placed them in constituencies, "which they know
they will definitely lose".
"Is this what they call a multi-racial party...they give seats which they know they
don't have a chance of winning to the Chinese and Indian leaders. If they are sincere
then they should be like the Barisan Nasional (BN). We have equal distribution of seats.
"The PKR is trying to emulate the BN but it will not work when they have leaders
who only care for themselves and not for the rakyat," Palanivel added.
The MIC No 2 also said that for a long time PKR was known as a husband and wife
party (Anwar and his wife Datin Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail) but now it had progressed
to a husband-wife-daughter party (Anwar, Azizah and Nurul Ezzah -- Anwar's daughter
who is contesting the Lembah Pantai parliamentary constituency).
"Voters should not trust PKR. PKR or Anwar do not have Indians or their problems
at heart...all he wants is the votes. He has no time for Indians unlike the MIC
and the BN," said Palanivel.
The deputy minister also said that the statement by Malaysian Indian United Party
head Datuk K.S. Nallakarupan, who was once Anwar's friend and tennis partner, that
Anwar did not care of the plight of Indians in the country showed the true colours
of the politician.
"Nallakarupan said that Anwar simply uses Indians to serve his ambition and this
is very true. PKR or Anwar are not the alternatives to the BN or the MIC.
"The BN election campaign explains to the people our plans, aims and ambition but
PKR's election campaign is more of a "sakit hati" (grudge) campaign," Palanivel
added.
