THINALAN T RAJAGOPALU
NATIONAL MIC YOUTH LEADER
15TH MARCH 2019
The MIC Youth is saddened with the ongoing dilemma in Pasir Gudang, Johor. I’m told that the toll of people affected by the pollution of chemical waste has now risen to more than 3000. This is indeed an alarming state and assistance in all forms must be dispatched to put right the situation.
Videos and pictures of children are viral. It is obvious that the after effects of inhaling the poisonous gas has brought about severe health hazard. Al though schools, kindergartens and preschools are ordered to close, it may still affect mothers who are pregnant and even new born babies. I am also informed that purification efforts are ongoing on the Kim Kim river as part of solution.
We in MIC Youth are of the view, regardless of political differences, that this state of dilemma must be addressed by the goverment in its fullest form and all its might. State of emergency must be declared as the toll of casualty is not decreasing.
I have requested MIC Youth of Johor to immediately form a team to assist the local state goverment and people affected in any way possible. MIC Youth will render assistance in any form to assist the victims and to bring the situation to better state.
